Designed for finishing passes on steel and similar materials, the YG1 85565TC solid carbide end mill features a 3/16″ diameter and a 5/16″ length of cut with a stub length that provides both rigidity and precision. Its 5-flute configuration and 45° helix angle, combined with a TiCN coating, improve chip evacuation and surface finish during light radial stock removal, making it ideal for low carbon steels like 1018 and A36. This design leverages the TiCN coating alongside a high flute count and steep helix angle to reduce cutting forces and increase wear resistance, resulting in smoother finishes and longer tool life. The lack of a corner radius enhances edge definition but necessitates careful handling to avoid chipping during interrupted cuts. It’s optimized for finishing operations where tight tolerances and superior surface quality are required. Users should avoid applying this end mill to heat-resistant superalloys (HRSA ISO S) as the coating is not a good match and can cause premature tool failure. Additionally, it is not suited for heavy roughing or materials outside its specified range to ensure optimal performance.
