Applications
Ideal for detailed milling in cast iron, the YG1 33558TH features a 1/8″ diameter and 1/4″ cut length with a 4-flute solid carbide design. Its stub length reduces deflection and enhances control, enabling tight tolerance finishing. The 30° helix angle paired with the Hardslick coating delivers smooth cutting action, minimizing built-up edge and improving surface finish through efficient chip evacuation and heat reduction during high-speed milling. Engineered primarily for cast iron, this tool also performs effectively in stainless steel and heat-resistant superalloys due to its compatible coating and flute geometry. With no corner radius, it maintains sharp edges but requires monitoring for edge chipping during interrupted cuts. The center-cutting capability allows precise plunge milling and slotting. This end mill should not be used on steel (ISO P) or non-ferrous materials, as the Hardslick coating degrades quickly on those substrates. It is not suited for general milling of free-machining steels, so alternative tooling is advised for those applications.
Features
- Suitable for cutting hardened & high alloy steels, steel casting, chill casting, malleable cast iron, CrNi-steels, brass, copper, aluminum with a high percentage of silicon and abrasive plastics.
