The YG1 86598TC solid carbide finishing end mill, sized at 3/4″ diameter with a 1-5/8″ length of cut, offers rigidity and precision ideal for finishing steel. Its 5-flute design paired with a 45° helix angle and TiCN coating enhances surface finish and chip evacuation, reducing vibration and promoting dimensional accuracy. This combination is well-suited for finishing low carbon steels with light radial stock removal. With a single end and center cutting geometry, the tool supports plunge and ramping operations, while the lack of a corner radius prioritizes sharp edge definition over chipping resistance. The TiCN coating provides moderate wear resistance and is compatible with steel, select non-ferrous, and stainless materials, broadening its application scope. Avoid using this end mill on heat-resistant superalloys (HRSA ISO S) because the TiCN coating is not well suited and will degrade quickly. It is not intended for heavy roughing or interrupted cuts where a corner radius or alternative coating would better prevent edge chipping.
