Applications

Engineered for finishing steel, the YG1 84595TN solid carbide finishing end mill measures 5/8″ in diameter with a 1-1/4″ length of cut, combining six flutes with a 40° helix angle and TiN coating to enhance surface finish and chip evacuation. This configuration reduces vibration and extends tool life, delivering the right balance of reach and stiffness for detailed finishing where dimensional accuracy is critical. Its features correspond closely with recommended finishing applications for low carbon steel (1018/A36), where the high flute count and variable pitch contribute to exceptional surface quality with light radial stock removal. The TiN coating also supports machining of steel, hard materials, stainless steel, and non-ferrous metals, broadening its applicability beyond just steel. This end mill should not be applied to heat-resistant superalloys (HRSA ISO S) due to coating unsuitability, which can cause premature wear. Its geometry and coating are not designed for heavy roughing or interrupted cuts in not a good match materials, ensuring optimal performance within its intended range.
