Applications

The YG1 UGMG32032 solid carbide square end mill measures 1/4″ in diameter with a 3/4″ length of cut, providing balanced reach and rigidity suited for precision finishing in steel and related materials. Its 5-flute design combined with a variable helix angle and Y-Coating improves surface finish and reduces vibration during light radial stock removal, making it well matched to finishing applications in low carbon steel 1018/A36. Its variable helix and high flute count work together to minimize chatter and enhance chip evacuation, enabling consistent finishes in tougher materials such as stainless steel, hard materials, and heat-resistant superalloys. The absence of a corner radius means sharp cutting edges require careful handling to avoid edge chipping in interrupted cuts. Avoid using this end mill on non-ferrous metals due to the Y-Coatings unsuitability, which leads to rapid wear. This tools design and coating combination are unsuitable for softer metals where coating wear and chip load differ significantly from steel and related alloys.
