TiCN-Coated Spiral Pointed Plug Taps for High-Performance Applications. These high-speed steel spiral pointed plug taps from TTC offer better performance than TiN-coated models. The PVD, Titanium CarboNitride (TiCN), coating on the threaded area reduces vibration and abrasion on the tool. TiCN coating offers excellent results on abrasive materials like cast iron and certain aluminum alloys, difficult-to-machine metals like nickel-bearing superalloys. The taps perform gives interrupted cutting like high-speed milling and gear cutting. The combination of two/three straight flute styles, and stainless steel tool material ensures superior performance at high speeds. The heat-resistant coating improves tool life and can be used without coolant. The models are available in 9 different number sizes of #0 to #10 with thread limit H1/H2/H3 and 9 different fractional sizes of 1/4 inch to 1 inch with thread limit H3/H4. The square shank of the tap provides a firm grip. Slow spirals helix angle (0-degree) are used for non-ferrous materials. These taps are used to produce a thread to the bottom of a blind hole. They are also better to tap a thread in a hole where there is a break in the material. Spiral point taps are known for their versatile applications. TTC HSS series spiral point taps promise faster chip evacuation, efficient thread quality, and higher tapping speeds. TTC tools are a top choice for common materials, short-run jobs, and general-purpose projects. All TTC products are manufactured to meet standard ANSI tolerances and requirements. Travers Tools offers a wide range of carbide and high-speed steel radius and cutting tools, abrasives, holding accessories from brand TTC Production. This USA Made brand is now popular among thousands of small shop machinists, job shops, and do-it-yourself hobbyists everywhere.
